The positive start to the season continued on Saturday in the National Road Relays (12 stage) at Sutton Park.
In a race littered with elite athletes on an annual basis, our senior men finished in 28th position overall. The team started well with Luke Edwards (27:20) in 33rd position after the long (8.66km) 1st leg. Adam Jones, in his comeback ran a strong short leg in leg 2 to keep the team in a relatively consistent place. Joe Niven taking the next long leg made 5 places up to bring the team into the top 30. Jake Dickinson ran really well on the next short leg and gained us a further place. As Ross Harrison took on the 5th leg (long) he was pitted against athletes of the calibre of Dewi Griffiths and ran superbly to push the team up further. Fletcher Foster took over on the next short leg and kept us within the top 30. Se Loughlin running a long leg pulled a place back to move us to 27th which allowed Chris Melling, Mark Wynne, Ian Roberts , Oliver Sutcliffe and Adam Fields to turn out consistent performances with the club finishing 28th.
