This year’s team of Dan Slater (25.17) , Luke Edwards (12.09), Greg Callaghan (28.57), James Metcalfe (13.09), Chris Pedder (31.28), Jonathon Bride (13.03), Mike Gall (29.12), Kevin Usher (12.55), John Halson (15.33), Bernie Murphy (14.16),Andrew Conway (15.44), Robbie Wood (17.08) took to the tree lined setting of Birkenhead Park which proved to be an ideal venue for this years event.
The club finished in 43rd position overall. Fastest long leg for the club was Dan Slater who an the 1st leg and came in in 27th place with a good solid run on 25.17 for the 8.5k leg. Luke Edwards ran the fastest short leg for the club and brought the club up to its highest position on the day (20th) with his 12.09 4.2k leg. The qualifying position required to reach the National 12 Stage competition was 25th and the club were some 19 minutes off that mark. With 7 of the 12 legs being run by over 50’s vets it was always a big ask to get near the qualifying mark!
There were however some notable runs on the day in addition to Dan and Luke, Mike Gall having already run the Liverpool Half Marathon in the
morning admirably ran a long leg and ran a respectable time. Evergreen Kevin Usher ran a very solid leg and fellow 0/50 vet Andrew Conway ran as quick as he’s run for some time. Results
