Arrowe Park was the venue for the first of this season’s Liverpool & District senior cross country races. Athletes had to contend with strong winds & blustery conditions as they made their way around the three laps of the course.
Liverpool Harriers dominated the race claiming the first 4 positions and not surprisingly the team title. It was a somewhat depleted turnout from Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton athletes, but veteran Kevin Usher(V50) again demonstrated that he is class act by finishing in 11th place. Team captain, Mark Wynne (V40) was the club’s second runner home in 14th place. They were followed by husband & wife, Danny (40th) & Vicky Gilbody (60th) with John Halson(78) and Mark Hudson ((85) completing the team score. Andy Conway (100) completed the club’s runners on the day.
No doubt there will be a much stronger turnout at the second race in November, when runners compete with the best in the country at the Cross Challenge event held at Liverpool’s Sefton Park.
