Four members of LPS travelled to Halewood for the monthly 5km road race on 7 November. In his first time in the event, U20 Jonathon Bride blasted away from the start before settling into his race pace. A final sprint brought him home for a 5km pb in 17 minutes 29 seconds, finishing 2nd overall and 1st U20. A trio of vets completed the LPS contingent. John Halson was 9th in 18.53, and 2nd vet 50. Robbie Wood was 13th in 19.43 and 1st vet 55, with John Dobie 34th in 23.14 and 3rd vet 65.
Later in the day at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, 16 year old Jack Crook was taking the first steps of his indoor racing career. In a series of seeded 1000 metre races, Jack was put in the second tier race. Going hard from the gun, Jack quickly got into the race around the 200m track. With a final burst overthe last lap Jack came home 1st in 2.41.64, well inside his 2.45.0 target. A promising start to his indoor season as a first year U20.
Tess Walker an LPS runner on the track won the Cheshire 10k at Arley Hall on Saturday in 35.57, which is a pretty good performance as she had been under the weather for a couple of weeks prior!.
