Youngsters shine at Astley Park
The first Mid-Lancs cross country fixture took place at Astley Park, Chorley on Saturday. Conditions were ideal for running, although steep slopes, a wooded area and a water crossing ensured no-one emerged mud-free.
Star performers for Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton were the U15 boys team with Ross Harrison(5), Adam Jones (6th) & Tom Dickinson (7th)packing well to secure the team victory. They were well supported by Joe Houghton((13th) & Alex Laing (28th) The U15 Girls also had a team with Fran Price (23rd), Alex Barnsley (24th)& Megan Barnsley(30th) finishing in 7th place.
Elsewhere there were no complete teams, but some good individual performances. Dan Jones was 3rd in U17 men’s race & Flossie Dickinson 5th in U17 women’s race. Jenny Williamson (10th)& Gabby Morris (13th)ran well at U13G level as did Jake Dickinson (15th)& Liam Harrison (28th) in the boy’s race.
Sole U13 runner was Emily Williamson(41st)
Natterjack 10k
Runners experienced perfect conditions in Southport for the Natterjack Seaside 10K. Harry Doran ran a good 33.52 to collect second overall prize with Aaron Jarvis 11th on 36.22. Not far behind came Kirsty Longley, adding yet another first female success to her string of local road victories in 12th with 36.29. Vet Greg Callagahan, also on 36.29 was 14th. Steve Lennon (38.29) was 29th and Lisa Gawthorne (40.32) was 40th.
