 Amy Potter Under 15s win team at Lancaster
After all the excitement of Bristol last weekend it was back to domestic competition for LPS youngsters. A short trip to Lancaster for the final Mid-Lancs fixture of the season was made worth while with another team victory to report. In the opening event the under 13 boys we once again had to settle for second place behind the strong Blackpool & Fylde squad. Joe McKenna 5th, Tom Dodd 9th, Andrew Bowden 10th, Ben Johnson 11th Robert Bland 17th and Andrew Liversey 19th turned out and completed a very useful season. This is a team for the future. In the under 15s boys we had Robert Stocks 3rd David Wilkie 5th, and Chris Melling 8th and Tom McCarten 12th once again proved too strong for the competition and won with a score of 28 points.
Under 17 ladies once again saw Laura Davenport and Amy Potter turning out for the club. These two girls have been ever present this season. Laura was 6th and Amy 9th. The under 17 men saw only two lads turn out after a busy season in which they have been unbeatable (although you would never have known this from reading the Liverpool Echo’s Athletics columns) Robert Walmsley jnr was 3rd and Andrew Donaldson 4th (Photos Karen Doyle)

Nathan wins Hyndburn 10k
 Nathan Vendersalm
Nathan Vendersalm run out a comfortable winner of the Hyndburn 10k from Belgrave international Lee Hurst. Nathan who has been suffering with a series of leg injuries ran 33.44 to Lee Hurst’s 34.18. This will be good news for Captain Jim Eden who will be putting together his plans for the Northern 12 stage to be held next month. Nathan has been one of the most consistent local runners for many years as well as being a great clubman. Never a lover of the cross-country Nathan has excelled on both the track and the road for which he won an International vest for the half marathon a few years back.

Henry enjoys racing with the seniors
 Henry Stewart Henry Stewart one of LPS talented group of junior athletes made an early season debut on the roads at Southport Waterloo 4 mile race today. Running strongly throughout Henry was not at all put off by the quality field around him and came home 5th in 20.29. Also taking the opportunity to try himself out on the roads was Alan Stewart who came home in 14th place in 21.28. Alan is still an under 17 and was our lead runner home in our National Cross Country winning team. Dan Taylor was next in 22 in 21.43 followed by Robert Walmsley also an under 17 was 29 in 22.06, beating his Dad Bobby who was 39th in 22.32. In 50th place and making a welcome come back was Mark Barrow 23.10. Mark Bleasdale was 53rd in 23.17, Steve Donagan was 68th in 24.14.

Old Boys have a go at Rivington
On a perfect day 3 LPS athletes(!!!) lined up at the start of the popular Rivington Pike fell race. This event was cancelled last year for the first time since world war 2, due to the foot & mouth problems. Horwich RMI made a big effort to get this the second oldest fell race in the country started again and over 200 runners turned out to welcome it back. LPS team of Robbie Wood, Dave Fairclough and Richie Webster laughed at the start line when we added up our combined ages to be 150 year!!!. Robbie was first home just catching Dave 20 metres from the line with Richie a little bit behind. No sign of any of these lads hanging up their running shoes quite yet.

Tom Snape makes welcome return
 Tom Snape After almost 18 months out of the sport through injury Tom Snape made a welcome return on the Halton Runcorn Bridge 5 mile. A race which Tom won two years ago he was this time second to Bernie Jones of Wrexham. Tom was pleased with his run and given a few more weeks training should be able to regain his high level of racing fitness.
