After having to run a super fast time of 1.45.47 to qualify for the semis in the opening rounds of the 800m in the World Athletic Championships in Moscow Michael Rimmer was clearly up against what was going to be an unexpectedly top quality event, even without the presence of the world record holder David Rudisha. So it turned out to be and although Michael did little wrong he was in very swift company and was left in the straight with no possibility of catching the leading group in his semi. . He was visibly hurting and battling the odds but faded to 8th with a disappointing 1.47.06. Another long winter faces the LPS star with tough decisions in abundance.
