Hitting the V50 mark hasn’t slowed Thomas Harkin at all as he continues to churn out impressive results. On 4th December he competed in the Mytholmroyd fell race, which is a 6 miles / 9.7km run with 500m rather than a medical condition, and finished in a time of 54:57. This was 17th overall and 2nd V50. He finished the run up to Christmas with an impressive 1st place at a very cold Crosby park run yesterday.
Mid Lancs Cross Country – Hyndburn
On 10th December Hyndburn hosted the Mid Lancs cross country where we had a small team running in the mud, snow and ice. Matthew Bennet produced another strong performance finishing 5th in the U11 boys race, just 9 seconds behind the winner. William Roberts followed this with another progressive run as he finished in 12th place. In the U15 girls race, Sarah Yates finished in an impressive 6th position.
As the weather deteriorated our U20s and seniors took part in a mudbath of a race where siblings Kate and Oliver Sutcliffe starred in their respective races Kate finished in 6th place overall but 4th U20 woman with Olly in 8th place overall but coming in 1st U20.
In the senior womens’ race Sharon Roberts came home just after half way in 71st position whilst Neil made it good all round day for the Roberts family as he finished 15th V55. Staying away from the mud was a man who doesn’t like to get his shoes dirty, so Darren Kain got on a plane (poet laureate) and did the Malaga half marathon in a PB of 1:46.47.
Telford 10k
On Sunday 11th we had three athletes, Chloe Leather, Andrew Foster and Se Loughlin taking part in the Telford 10k. The incredibly fast race produced 34 athletes running sub 30 minutes. Our athletes didn’t disappoint, all of whom achieved personal best performances. Chloe Leather took a massive 90 seconds off her previous time to finish in 36:56 , Andrew Foster taking 73 seconds off to achieve 35:55 and Se Loughlin shaving 31 seconds off his previous best to finish 3 seconds ahead of recent park run UK record holder, Samantha Harrison, in 31:07 which puts him into the top 10 U20 for 2022 at 10k.
