Summer lovin’ on the road

Team LPS took a strong contingent to Kingsley for the Mid Cheshire 5k on 26 Aug.  The race is always one of the quickest of the year with athletes attempting PBs or at least getting a strong performance in.

The event didn’t disappoint and, although fairly warm and humid, there were some rapid performances.  Stand out achievements with PBs from these athletes:

  • Ross Harrison 14:56
  • Tom Fair in 16:34
  • Andrew Foster in 17:00 – An amazing achievement following a very lengthy injury.
  • Tom Harkin 17:10
  • Elle Anderson 17:02 – Another fabulous performance following injury.
  • Lisa Gawthorne 18:06 – She keeps on smashing her PB
  • Joanna Durkin 19:18

Our other athletes all produced very strong performances putting them in good condition for the upcoming relays.

On Sunday 28th, Kirsty Longley produced an amazing performance in the Women’s elite race of the Antrim Coast half marathon where she finished 10th in a time of 1:16.40.

Tom Harkin continues his good form. Following his PB at Mid Cheshire he competed in the Inov-8 High Cup Nick Fell race, where he came 1st in the V50 age category and 10th overall.

Staying with trail races, the club continues to achieve top finishes in the Harrock Hill race in Parbold where Chloe Leather took 1st female place (9th overall) in a time of 37:43 and Louise Dermot 6th (45:09). Jake Dickinson finished 3rd in 35:29.  Greg, John and mark continue to impress in the senior age categories  with some really strong finishes.  It’s amazing what people will put themselves through for a free cabbage.
