LPS had a fair turn out for the Northern Senior and Under 20 Indoor Championships at Sheffield last weekend. Pride of place goes to Danny Higham who secured a bronze medal in the senior 400m with 49.68s, the clubs only medal.
Owen Southern followed up his recent 2.00m in Manchester (the fifth best jump ever by an LP&S athlete) with a sound 1.95m for fifth place in a classy under 20 high jump.
Jamie Hopkins takes the prize for unluckiest athlete on the day finishing just outside the medals, twice. However he can take consolation in PB’s from both the hurdles and the triple jump. The future looks very bright for this young combined eventer.
Luke Edwards ran his first ever indoor middle distance race recording an excellent 4:06 min in the senior 1500m heats. His pacing was a little awry in the final but fifth is a very creditable first effort at the distance.
Erin Birchall, Callum Garvey, Ciaran Scroggie and Matthew Hughes all recorded personal bests over the 200m which bodes well for the future of our sprints.
On to the under 15’s and under 13’s in a few weeks.
