Clare Constable represented the UK in the European Masters at Aarhous, Denmark earlier this month. Competing in the V/45 age group she successfully negotiated the 400 m heats in 62.51 and reached the final. A niggling achilles injury reoccurred in the final and she wisely pulled up so as not to spoil her chances in the 800 m starting two days later.
In the 800 m Clare once again qualified for the final running her heat in flats and doing just enough to get her into the final, still suffering from the injury she completed the final albeit is a season worst of 2.25.02 but fortunate able to finish.
She then somehow managed to run the 4 x 4 relay the next day (once again strapped up and in flats) and was rewarded with a bronze medal. Clare said ” I enjoyed whole experience despite my misfortune”.
