Helen Sahgal continued her winning streak with success in the Southport 10K on Sunday 2nd July. Her winning time of 37.40 was good enough for 6th place overall as
well as taking the women’s title. Andy Foster was 10th (38.54) & third over 40, with Mark Hudson (43.13) finishing in 31st place but third in the over 50 age category.
In the half marathon race at the same venue, Hilary Honeyball(1:28.34) was the best LPS athlete finishing 9th in the women’s race and 6th over 35, followed by Victoria Gilbody (1:48.43) 27th & Kirsty Mackenzie(2:08.40) 91st. In the men’s race, newcomer, Mike Gall(1.26.31), was 64th, Stephen Lennon (1:33.41) 142nd & Danny Gilbody (1:48.40) 458th.
On what was up to now has been a very successfully summer for LPS ladies Lisa Gawthorne was 3rd at the Lostock Hall 5k on Saturday the 1st July in 19.25.We should have a strong senior women’s team for the relays championships in September.
