Host club, Preston, dominated the latest Mid-Lancs Track & Field meeting winning both the boy’s (191) & girl’s(224) matches. There was a much improved performance from LPS girls who finished joint second (131) with Blackpool; the boys finished third behind Southport Waterloo (134.5)
Remarkably, fifteen LPS girls competed at U15 level, with Imogen Ayres winning the high jump(1.45m), Grace Mitchell was 2nd in the long jump (4.60m) & Hope Kennedy 3rd in the javelin (22.72m). Jorden Pilkington (high jump) & Harriet Foley (1500m) both won their events at U17 level, with Alex Bunclark finishing 3rd in the shot (8.82m). in the U13 age group, Olivia Morgan again performed well, finishing 3rd in the 100m (14.0) & 200m (29.3) and Ruth Usher, competing in her first high jump competition, also finished in 3rd place (1.20m). Lucy Townson was the club’s only junior athlete but she secured maximum points in the 200m(26.3) & 400m (61.1)
Jack Rogers was undoubtedly the star performer on the day. Although still at primary school, Jack finished in 3rd place in 100m(13.9), 200m (28.60) & Long Jump (4.31m); all three were AAA grade 4 standard performances. Bill Steel had a comfortable win in the U15 javelin (34.68m) while Tom Corcoran led from start to finish in the 3K race. Kai Finch (high jump 1.95m), Adam jones ( 1500m, 4:25.4) & Owen Southern(200m, 24.10 all won their events at U17 level. Matt Ingram (U20) won both horizontal jumps with a leap of 6.46m in the long jump & 12.92m in the triple jump.
