Four of LPS’s middle distance runners travelled to Trafford on Tuesday for the British Milers Club meeting. Superb weather helped bring out some top performances.
In the Gold Standard races 18 year old Rosie Johnson opened her track season in the women’s A race. In a small, but high quality field Rosie went with the pace and tracked the leaders through the bell in a swift 61.4s. Working well on the second lap, Rosie narrowed the gap and crossed the line in 2.06.94 for a new pb. The time now ranks her at 3rd in the 2016 U20 ladies 800m rankings.
In the men’s Gold A race, Harry Doran settled into 2nd position on the opening lap and went through 400m in 54.23 and put ina good finish to come home 2nd in 1.53.27.
New BMC member 16 year old Jack Crook, running in his first year as an U20, found himself in tough competition in the Gold B race. Following the pack on the first lap Jack hit the bell at 57.2s. Keeping up the effort throughout the second lap, Jack crossed the line 5th in 1.58.54s, a new pb and his first time inside 2 minutes for the distance.
In the BMC open races, U17 Matt Richardson ran in heat 1. In a fast race, Matt worked hard throughout the two laps and finished 8th in 2.04.17
