LPS stalwart Sammy Rashid made the trip from his home in Sheffield to last weekend’s London marathon and turned in yet another remarkable performance. Now at the tender age of 51 Sammy ran 2.45.15 which saw him finish 12th in the V/50 Cat.
Sammy commented on his run “I managed a pb of 2.45.15 and was 12th in my age category, both of which I am very happy about. I must admit my first reaction as I finished was that of disappointment as the target for the last 16 weeks has been 2.45.00 (this being the qualifying time to get a championship start for the next 2 years), so to be so close after 26 and a bit miles was a bit upsetting, I felt like I missed a big opportunity, and seeing the clock ticking by over the finish line while going down the Mall was very very frustrating!”
