Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton under 15 boys team finished an excellent 4th in the national road relay championships held at Sutton Park in Birmingham. They were led off by Dan Slater who ran the 5th fastest time of the day (12.33)to finish in 3rd place. Debutant, Dan Jones maintained the momentum with a fine run (13.09)to keep the team in 3rd place. Matty Richardson was on the anchor leg, chasing Shaftesbury Barnet and Charnwood Harriers. His time of 13.16 meant he lost out in the final run to Reading, but a 4th place finish meant they were easily the top northern team to finish. This trio can look forward with confidence to the cross country season.
Elsewhere, veteran Sammy Rashid continued his return to full fitness by finishing 1st Vet45 at the Cardiff half Marathon in a time of 1:14.41. This was an outstanding performance by Sammy whose overall position of 65th male was out of 22,000 entries.
It was a busy weekend for Lisa Gawthorne who managed to pick up two victories, the first in the Halewood 5k on Saturday in a time of 19.36 she was first lady and 24t place overall. Then on Sunday she won the Southport Lacay 10k beach race in 42.50 (ish) Also competing at Halewood Mark Wynne was 4th in 17.04 which equalled his best time on this course , John Halson 29th in 19.53, Robbie Wood 34th 20.29 and John Dobie 37th 21.15.
