Michael Rimmer was at Birmingham on the hottest day of the year for the British 800m Championships and World Championship trials. Having successfully negotiated his heat in 1.48.86 he found he had to work a lot harder in the final. With 250m to go he was well clear of his rivals and although tying up in the home straight he still came home to seal victory in 1.47.79. After a record breaking consecutive five senior titles up to 2010 he has now added a impressive sixth. Having already achieved the GB qualifying time he looks set to be on the plane for a place in the World Championships in Moscow. It has been an extraordinary week for the Liverpool Pembroke Sefton club following Rosie Johnson`s and Joe Milton`s gold medals in the English Schools. Three national titles is an amazing achievement for such a modestly sized club.
