Coaches Ray Twentyman and Trish Farrell took four of their Liverpool Pembroke Sefton sprint squad to Birmingham for the England Athletic Championships. The quartet prospered in spite of the poor conditions. Harry Doran blazed through his 400m heat(48.27) and semi-final(48.03) and was only slightly off the pace in the A final where he finished 6th in 49.12. Wayne Ashall progressed from heat(49.22) to semi-final(50.02) while Danny Higham posted 49.68 in his heat. Nathan Hilton was a model of consistency going from 49.35 to 49.57 and finished 7th in the B event final with 49.52.
Earlier in the week Rose Johnson was at Stretford for a graded meeting. In spite of being initially boxed in she recovered to record 4.42.03 for the 1500m. This takes her to tenth in the Under 15 UK rankings, third in the North West. She is having a tremendous season.
