Sprinter keep coming
The sprint production line at Edge Hill College continues to churn out major championship successes. At Birmingham in the AAA of England Championships Harry Doran was barely a few steps away from collecting the 400m Under 15 title in 50.82. His silver medal performance hoisted him to the top ten on the all time list. Liverpool Pembroke Sefton colleague Nathan Hilton was another finalist finishing 6th in the Under 15 200m in 23.48. Elsewhere in the Under 17 heats there were other excellent performances. Alex Stokes recorded an 11.36 100m and a 23.18 200m. Jack McGinn went out but with a fine 400m time of 50.9. Also eye-catching was Sam Hutchinson with a splendid 1.57.03 clocking in the 800m. The senior men and women went to Streford for the closing match of the season in the second division of the Northern League. Here the outstanding performance was the shattering of the club 4 x 400m relay record. Kieran McGing (50.0), Sam  Hutchinson(50.3), Phil Taylor(48.4) and Michael Rimmer(47.1) chopped a massive three seconds of the previous best with 3.15.8. All this without Northern champion Mark Grimshaw who was injured. Overall the team was 2nd and now go forward confidently to the qualifying match for the Premier League at Cleckheaton on September 10th.
